Hi, I’m James, founder of Aspect Snowboarding.

 

Originally from North Yorkshire, UK, I’ve spent over 18 years coaching snowboarders across Japan, New Zealand, Canada, and Switzerland before making Tignes my home base.

 

As a BASI Level 4 ISTD instructor, trainer, and examiner, my focus is 100% on snowboarding – whether you’re strapping in for the first time, pushing past a plateau, or preparing for instructor exams.

 

From beginner coaching to technical refinement for expert riders, I take the guesswork out of progression through clear, structured, and personalised coaching.

 

Every lesson is delivered personally by me, combining specialist technical expertise with a welcoming, supportive approach to help you ride better, build confidence, and get the absolute most out of your time on the mountain.

I am a BASI Level 4 Snowboard Trainer and Examiner holding the industry’s highest qualifications. My focus is entirely on snowboarding – no mixed disciplines, just structured, dedicated coaching built from 18 years of professional experience on snow.

No gimmicks, no rushed groups, and no pressure. If it’s your first time strapping onto a snowboard, we’ll start with the fundamentals. I’ll guide you step-by-step through a clear, structured progression to get you linking your first clean turns with control and confidence.

Instructor training

Instructor exam preparation with structured coaching from a BASI trainer with extensive experience delivering courses as both a trainer and examiner.

 

We’ll work through the key assessment areas in detail, helping you understand exactly what the standard looks like and how it is applied in real exam scenarios. I’ll help you refine your riding, sharpen your teaching, and build the clarity and consistency needed to perform under pressure.
